Befriending Your Body (BFYB) is a unique, trauma informed, 8-week, Somatic Self-Compassion Program for anyone who struggles with an eating disorder, disordered eating, and/or body image concerns.

If you are looking for a new approach to reconnecting with your body, developing a new relationship with food, and most importantly, rediscovering a relationship with yourself, this program is for you.

Welcome to a program like no other.

You will not leave unchanged.

What we do in this Course

In this 8-week, online, somatic self-compassion program, you will:

  • Learn how your brain, body, and nervous system work together

  • Develop interoceptive awareness to better understand your body’s signals

  • Build skills for emotional regulation and self-compassion

  • Learn how to work with difficult emotions like anxiety, fear, and shame

  • Develop a more respectful, trusting relationship with your body and food

  • Move toward greater freedom from diet culture and body-based shame

What to Expect Each Week

Each week, you will engage in a live teaching where I introduce the core principles of each phase of the program. You’ll also participate in guided practices, reflection, and embodied exercises designed to support your relationship with food, your body, and yourself.

You’ll read a chapter from Befriending Your Body: A Self-Compassionate Approach to Freeing Yourself From Disordered Eating to deepen and integrate what we explore together.

To support safety and connection, each Befriending Your Body group is intentionally kept small, with no more than 12 participants.

Tools You’ll Develop

  • Interoceptive Awareness: Understand and harness the power of your body’s signals to support your recovery.

  • Mindfulness: Learn mindfulness practices that help regulate emotions and keep you grounded during your recovery journey.

  • Self-Compassion: Develop the ability to soothe yourself during tough moments and foster a more compassionate relationship with your body.

Learn more

Many people come to Befriending Your Body feeling disconnected, exhausted, or frustrated with their relationship to food and their body. Maybe you’ve tried to think your way out of it. Maybe you’ve done all the “right” things and still feel stuck.

This program offers something different. It’s a space to slow down, listen inward, and learn how to relate to your body with curiosity instead of criticism. You don’t need to be ready or confident. You just need a willingness to begin where you are.

This program is also available through individual sessions. If interested, please email: tammy@tammyshultz.com

Developed by Dr. Ann Saffi Biasetti, BFYB is rooted in extensive research and clinical experience. This program was developed through Ann’s doctoral research, the writing of her book, Befriending Your Body: A Self-Compassionate Approach to Freeing Yourself From Disordered Eating, a pilot study on the program, and over 30 years of her clinical knowledge working with those struggling with disordered eating and body image issues.
