My Path to Holistic Therapy and Functional Nutritional Support
I'm Tammy, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner based in Olympia, WA. I provide in person support throughout Olympia, Lacey, and Tumwater, and virtual services across Washington State and the US. My passion is helping individuals who are navigating anxiety, perfectionism, body image concerns, disordered eating patterns, and the emotional impact of chronic stress.
Life can feel overwhelming, and my goal is to help you understand your inner world with more clarity and compassion. Through holistic therapy and functional nutritional therapy, I support the mind body connection so you can build steadiness, emotional resilience, and a more grounded relationship with yourself.
I am not your typical therapist. I’m direct, real, and I do not hide behind a clinical mask. If a swear word here or there does not bother you, we will get along just fine. My approach is warm, honest, and supportive. I offer a safe, non judgmental space where you can explore what is happening beneath the surface and learn tools that support your emotional and physical wellbeing.
Together, we will explore your goals and build a path forward that honors your lived experience and supports your healing at a pace that feels right for you!
My Journey To Becoming A Therapist
My own story deeply shapes the way I work. While your journey will be unique, I understand what it means to navigate chaos, hardship, and the pressure to be someone you are not. Growing up in a challenging environment, I learned early on how disconnected we can become from our needs, our intuition, and our sense of worth.
As a child and later as an adult, I often felt pressured to look, act, or feel certain ways. I coped with anxiety, negative self image, and perfectionism in ways that were not helpful. I stayed in unhealthy relationships, carried too much responsibility, and ignored my own emotional and physical needs.
As a newly single mother of two incredible children with disabilities, I returned to school to study the intersection of mental health and nutrition. While on the outside it may have appeared that I had everything together, I was still learning how to heal, regulate my emotions, and trust myself. Through vulnerability, self compassion, honesty, and support from others, I learned how to be present, advocate for myself, and rebuild my life.
My journey taught me the power of self acceptance, the importance of listening inward, and the courage it takes to create real change. These experiences inform the way I hold space for clients and guide the integrative work we do together.
My Passion for Nutritional Therapy
My interest in functional nutritional therapy began after the birth of my children, who both have unique health needs. Through research and lived experience, I learned how nutrition, amino acids, and nourishment patterns can influence emotional wellbeing, mood steadiness, and the nervous system.
I witnessed firsthand how gentle shifts in nourishment can help people feel calmer, clearer, and more connected. There is no one approach that works for everyone. We are each unique, and my goal is to help you understand what supports your body and mind with clarity and confidence.
Today, my work blends holistic therapy, functional nutritional therapy, and education on the food mood connection. Whether you meet with me in person in Olympia or virtually from anywhere in the US, my integrative approach supports emotional steadiness, body trust, and a deeper sense of self connection.
Being a therapist is truly an honor. I find immense joy in helping people become healthier and more empowered, watching their lives flourish. The most rewarding part of my work is seeing clients leave sessions feeling lighter, freer, and more ready to embrace life.
Helping People Is a Gift
A Genuine Interest in Others
I bring an open, compassionate, and grounded presence to every session. I listen deeply, hold space without judgment, and support you in exploring your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Clients often describe me as a direct, honest therapist with a warm sense of humor and a deep commitment to their growth.
Our Sessions Are Focused on You
Your sessions are designed to support your unique needs, goals, and lived experiences. Whether you meet with me in person here in Olympia or join virtually from another part of Washington or the US, you will have a safe, supportive environment where your voice truly matters. Together, we focus on building emotional clarity, reducing overwhelm, strengthening your nervous system, and reconnecting with yourself in meaningful ways.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Business from Seattle University in 1999. After twelve years devoted to raising my children, I returned to school and completed my Master of Arts in Counseling from Saint Martin’s University in 2017.
I became a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner through the Nutritional Therapy Association in 2014 and have continued advanced learning in somatic self compassion, food mood connection work, and amino acid support for emotional wellbeing.
